PLA

80px-Polylactid_sceletal_svgPolylactic Acid

This biodegradable, organically derived material has quickly become the standard for FDM style 3D printing.  With its low shrinkage and odor characteristics, it is the most viable option for both professional and home users alike.  We like printing with PLA due to its relatively low cost and multiple color options.  PLA is commonly used for biodegradable food containers.

ABS

Perhaps the most commonly used thermoplastic for injection molding, ABS is a great choice if you’re looking for a material that is close to your final product.  ABS is often used for it’s impact resistance and toughness, which makes it a great choice for daily-use consumer products that will be handled frequently.
